After their astounding performance and inspiring spiels in between, the band finally concluded the night with their latest single "Di Ba Halata." In hindsight, Agsunta's love and appreciation for OPM (Original Pinoy Music) really brought out their patriotic spirit and it really stood out. Each member of the band balance each other and their energy throughout the show was consistently high from start to finish. On top of that, their original compositions were well-crafted and built on good fundamentals for their Filipino listeners. I'm looking forward to see what's coming next for this OPM band! Agsunta's self-titled debut album is out now on all digital stores: iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon. Check it out!

SONGS THAT GUIDED ME THROUGH LIFE
18 February 2018
Each of us have a different way of coping with stress. Most people can cope by relaxing, taking a walk, chatting through issues with friends, or having a good night’s sleep. As for me, listening to music is my escape. Music has the power to transport us to another place, another time, another dimension and it moves us in a way that nothing else does. So today, let me share with you the songs that guided me through life and hopefully, this will also be of help to anyone going through something similar.
Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell - My Dad introduced me to Joni's music during my teen years and since then she had become my biggest musical influence growing up. Joni Mitchell's music is very raw, honest and empowering. Most of her songs are spell-binding from start to finish, it transports us to a whole new universe. Both Sides Now is the first song I've heard from Joni, aside from its great tune, the lyrics hit me really deep. The song tells us that our perspective in life will change as we grow older. There's a line in the song that I particularly got hung up on that was about losing and gaining something new everyday. What we thought about love, our relationship with friends and how we see our surroundings while we were younger wouldn't remain as they are and that's okay. Joni's basically telling us to never be afraid of change because we may lose something good but we may gain something even better.
But now old friends are acting strange. They shake their heads, they say I've changed. Well something's lost, but something's gained in living every day.
God Gave Rock 'n Roll To You by K.I.S.S - Are you actually surprised I included this on the list? You shouldn't be because if you know the song and the story behind it you'll clearly understand why I did. If Joni's song "Both Sides Now" tells us about perspectives in life; this K.I.S.S. song, on the other hand, pushes us to pursue the things we're passionate about no matter what before it's too late.
If you wanna be a singer, or play guitar. Man, you gotta sweat or you won't get far
Cause it's never too late to work nine-to-five, you can take a stand, or you can compromise
The Sunshine Song by Jason Mraz - I am and have always been a fan of Jason Mraz. His songs Living in the Moment, I Won't Give Up and Frank D. Fixer are just few of his many songs that really made a mark on me. Like Joni, Jason's music take me in a realm of optimism. Anyway, just recently while I was scrolling through Jason Mraz' playlist on Spotify, I came across The Sunshine Song. The first line of the song goes; "Well sometimes the sun shines on other people's houses and not mine" and for some reason, I just felt the need to continue listening to it. I'm glad I did. There are not many songs that move me when I listen to them for the first time, but The Sunshine Song just hit me with a wave of different emotions. What made the song even more special for me is because I didn't see it coming... it was unexpected. They said, beautiful things just happen unexpectedly, and The Sunshine Song is definitely one of them.
Somehow the sun keeps shining upon you while I struggle to get mine.
If there's a light in everybody, send out your ray of sunshine.
Feel free to share with me the songs that guided you through life on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!

SEVEN THINGS I LEARNED IN 2017
28 January 2018
1. Health is wealth. Literally!!! If there's anything this year taught me, it is to never neglect my health and sadly, I only realized it when it was already too late. I underwent a medium surgery last September, and not only was it an agitating experience for me but also to my parents who spent a great deal of money just to had something toxic removed from my body. So, save yourself (and your family) the hassle and drink plenty of water everyday. Staying hydrated is always important.
2. Not everything is sunshine and daisies. 2017 was like a big dice game for me. One day I'm elated, the next day I'm frustrated. The whirlwind of sleep deprivation, mood swings and breakdowns I had to endure last year made me realize that "not everything is sunshine and daisies". But that doesn't mean we can't make the best out of every situation.
3. Negative mind, will never give you a positive life. There were days that I was very pessimistic about life. I can tell you that honestly. The result? Worries, fears and a lot of overthinking. This 2018, I will definitely leave all the negativity behind and start anew.
4. Never give up on your dreams. Clichè I know, but it's true - DREAMS DO COME TRUE. 2017 was the year I achieved one of my biggest dream in life and that is to become a Flight Attendant. I didn't get it with one snap of a finger though; there were compromises, hard work and sacrifices done along the way but that's what makes it fulfilling.
5. Always be punctual, presentable and professional. It’s time we stop celebrating and accepting "Filipino Time" as part of our culture. Ever since I started working in an airline industry, I learned to give importance to other people's time and improve my time management skills. Things have changed a great deal, ever since. I've accomplished more with less effort and time and it enabled me to do the right things at the right time.
6. Music is the best stress-reliever. Listening to music can help relieve stress in many ways and can be even more effective than tablets. It has a tremendous relaxing effect and I'm sure a lot of you will agree. This year, I've gotten to one of the lowest points in my life but with the help of music (and a little push from my family and friends) I was able to surpass it. I will probably be sharing more of that in my next post...
7. Appreciate everything and everyone around you. Despite the setbacks I experienced in the past year, I still feel blessed and lucky to be surrounded by people who continuously support and love me. Whenever I'm going through some tough times, they always remind me that no matter what, things will eventually get better. With that being said, I learned to be more grateful to the people around me and to not take things for granted because not everyone is as privileged enough.
I'm excited and nervous for what 2018 has in store for me and I'm definitely ready to take on the challenge! I will end this post with a quote from one of my favorite artists, Carrie Underwood, "Every day is a new day, and you'll never be able to find happiness if you don't move on."
THE WORLD'S BEST-SELLING BOTTLED WATER BRAND IS HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES
3 December 2017
Too many of us are missing out on an important nutrient. It’s not a food. It’s not a vitamin or mineral. This overlooked nutrient is readily available, often free, and easy to take. The powerful player here is water, and when I mean water it has to be quality water that purifies and nourishes us. That's why we should only trust the best and I recommend Aquafina, the world's best-selling water.
Last November 16 during the Grand Launch of Aquafina here in the Philippines, I learned that its water is purified using the best technology available to purify water, this process includes reverse osmosis, ozonation and carbon filtration to remove things like chlorides, salts, and other substances that can affect the taste of water. With this, you’ll get pure water consistently every time you open an Aquafina. Aquafina prides itself in delivering consistently crisp taste in every bottle, no matter the market, across the globe.
Kelly Misa-Fernandez, Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez, Pia Wurtzbach and Maureen Wroblewitz for Aquafina
Aquafina, the bottled water brand trusted by consumers around the world, is now in the Philippines. Known for its purity, Aquafina brand has won over consumers around the world since its introduction in the U.S. in 1994. It hopes to change the game once again with its expansion to the local market. “Filipinos always demand for quality and credibility and the same is true when it comes to bottled water. With the continuously growing water category in the country, it’s high time for Filipinos to experience the pure water that Aquafina has to offer, says Melai Lazaro-Javier, PepsiCo Category Manager for Juices and Water.
As the world’s best-selling bottled water brand, Aquafina likewise aims to bring out the best in every Filipino. “Each of us has what it takes to be the best at something. No matter how big or small they may seem to be, these successes deserve to be celebrated and be proud of. Aquafina hopes to give every individual the inspiration they need to become their best self”, shares Javier.
To further this advocacy, Aquafina chose none other than Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach to represent the brand’s philosophy. With an inspiring backstory to her now-stellar career, Pia undeniably embodies what it means to persevere, stand out, and eventually become the best.

PENSHOPPE SHEDS LIGHT ON BULLYING
25 October 2017

DJ Samantha Nicole entertaining the guests at Penshoppe's #IAmDifferent campaign launch
Back in 2009 when I was a new student in high school, I have been bullied by some of my batch mates. It was honestly one of my toughest times. These bullies have literally pushed me around to the point where I almost fell off the stairs. I can still remember when we lost our house from fire that same year, one student randomly came up to me and said, "Buti nga nangyari sayo yun". Could you imagine her audacity to say that to my face when I was still grieving? I was so furious that I wanted to slap her, but since I was a new student then I didn't want to make an action that would cause me a bad record and disappoint my parents. But the fact that the idea of physically hurting somebody came into my mind, only means that I already had enough. That time, I couldn't do anything but to run to the nearest comfort room and cry. These are things that I only see happen in movies and never did I imagine it'd happen to me.For months, I felt like I was their bait, until one day I decided to stand up for myself. I opened it up to my parents who was very supportive throughout the ordeal, they wrote to school authorities and informed them that they were ready to take matters to the court if these bullies don't stop. They were serious about it.
Having an open communication with our parents or anyone in our family or friends is important, because then they can speak for us in times that we can't deal with the distressing issue ourselves. My friends and family have been my shield ever since, and this was again proven in 2014 when I experienced cyberbullying from fans of an international artist. I never thought cyber bullying was as serious or even worse as traditional bullying, until I was the one subjected to it (you could read the whole story here).
There will always be bullies and cyberbullies, these are people who see it as a way to be in control, people who are insensitive of other's feelings or simply, people who just doesn't have enough love in their hearts. Their actions or comments may sting for a while but eventually you'll learn not to let these rule your life. If you're being bullied, know that at the end of the day as long as you stay true to yourself, these bullies won't matter. Don't let them mock, isolate and bully you for being different. Rise up! This is what local retail brand Penshoppe aims to communicate with the launch of their newest campaign #IAmDifferent.

With the help of international brand ambassadors Bella Hadid, Lucky BlueSmith, Kaia Gerber, and Sandara Park among many other big names, Penshoppe brings its focus to the widespread issue of bullying plaguing the Filipino youth. This campaign presents timely opportunity for everyone to start talking about the pressing issue of bullying in the country. A study report that 1 out of 2 Filipino students have experienced or witnessed bullying in their schools. It has also taken a new form especially with the advent of social media as it provides a more convenient avenue to spread hate and thrive on people's insecurities.
At the core of this campaign is Penshoppe's newest collection of tees and caps which emblazoned the campaign statement "I Am Different" and "Different is Good". Each t-shirt from the limited edition #IAmDifferent collection features construction from luxe fabric and with a special identifier: a unique serial number.
